PIP Renewal Claims for Over 65s was created by Mykonos
Having attended a hearing late last December (2020), I was awarded PIP at the lower rate. At the time I was over 65. The award was until September 2021, when I will still be 65.
Barely 3 months after the hearing, I have just received a letter (March 2021) from the DWP stating the award will end in September and asking me to call them if I still need PIP and they’ll ask a few questions to “help me with my claim”.
Could someone who has experience of this tell me where in the process I am? Will the phone call mentioned be a telephone assessment or is it the precursor to sending me a new form to complete?
Be most grateful if anyone knows anything about the process please?

Hello Shash,
The award you are currently will have effectively started before you were 65, either when a previous award came to its end, or when you started a new claim. The hearing date was merely the date on which the amount of the award was determined.
The critical age for PIP is not 65, but State Pension Age, which now varies depending on when you were born.
If are receiving PIP when you cross State Pension Age, provided your condition still qualifies you for it, you can continue to receive PIP. Any mobility award will not be able to increase, even if your condition deteriorates, but the Daily Living component can be increased.
It is hard to say from the information you have given in your post exactly what the phone call is going to about, but I would recommend treating as a mini telephone assessment. The key information to give them at this stage is that there is no change in your condition, assuming that is so. If however your condition has deteriorated since you applied for your current award you should let them know.
I fear that you may be about to get another PIP2 form to complete, but hopefully you still have a copy of the last one, together with the evidence you sent in. This means you will only need to update it and include the fact that the tribunal awarded you what points they did.
