MR: Challenging points when given enhanced award? was created by Rushaa
I just wanted advice regarding mandatory reconsideration as I received my award letter today - I have been awarded enhanced daily living, but scored only 4 points in the mobility section which I am considering challenging as this is probably the area I have more struggles in. I have currently requested they post the report explaining their decision.
My question is about whether it is worth it to also challenge the lack of points awarded in communicating, reading, and mixing with other people when I have already been given enough points for an enhanced daily living award? I have autism so these are key and consistent issues I struggle with and I don't want to set myself up for trouble asserting that I score points when I have a renewal down the line, but equally I don't want to risk having the DWP change the award level either.

Hi Rushaa
We can't tell you whether you should challenge an award, because we don't know anything about you. It's a decision you will have to make for yourself. As you can't get anything higher than an enhanced award, I would not waste time challenging points you think you should have had. I honestly don't think it's an issue when you have a review. You asserted this time that you had trouble communicating etc and you will do so next time - so your evidence will be the same. The decision is only an opinion and next time the opinion can be different.
However, if you feel very strongly that you want to mention it - you need to say in your Mandatory Reconsideration that you are very happy with the award given but think you should have received extra points in certain areas.

Thank you for your response; I think I was mainly anxious that if I didn't challenge it now they'd turn around in the future and say I must be fine then.
