ESA extension COVID was created by Gregorysgirl
Are some ESA reassessments being extended due to COVID? I’ve asked already but my post did not appear on the forum.

Hi Gregorysgirl
Questions only appear on the forum once they have been moderated and answered. Posts don't necessarily appear on the forum in the order that they are written by members because it depends on which of the mods are free to answer it. So your question was in the mods area, but not published on the forum.
The DWP have a backlog of new claims and reassessments to deal with. When some people have rang to ask when their next review is, they have either been told it's not possible to tell them or they have been told it won't be for at least another year. Nothing has been sent out in writing. So claimants won't receive a letter like the people who claim PIP because ESA does not have an award end date - hence no extension date necessary.

Thanks for the reply.
Now something odd has happened. I rang ESA helpline and I spoke to a nice lady who put me on hold for five minutes and said there was no date for reassessment on my claim. When I’ve rang them before they always give a date. I don’t know what this means- is it a positive or not? I’m sixty four.

Hi Gregorysgirl
As BIS has stated below, ESA is an indefinite award with scheduled reassessment so there will be no end date or award length on the Decision Letter.
If you have the assessment report then the "prognosis" is used to set the date.
ESA will stop when you reach State Pension age: www.gov.uk/state-pension-age
Unfortunately I cannot say if it is positive or not, you could try and call ESA again to see if you get the same answer.
