Hi all,
New here and just read something that worried me. Any help appreciated.
I have been on income support and carers allowance for the lifetime of my 38 year old son who has severe learning disability autisim and epilepsy.
Due to increasing violence against me by my son he sadly, had to be sectioned and may come back home but will probably be going to an assisted living placement
My carers allowance and income support stopped after he had been in hospital for a month, he's still there.
I rand cab and was advised to apply for universal credit, which I did
I was also in receipt of pip standard daily living for mental health issues since last june and had the disability and severe disability premiums added to my income support.
Will I now lose these premiums?
Literally worried sick that this will be the case.

Hi Francesca
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.
Welcome to Benefits and Work .
Yes you will loose those premiums, UC does not have any disability premiums. You may be eligible to claim an additional element called LCWRA with your UC providing you meet the qualifying conditions.
When you apply for UC you will need to send your workcoach a 'Fit note' to start the process off, your workcoach will then send you a UC50 form to complete.
Have a look at our guides on how to complete a UC50 form, it will also tell you what DWP require in order for you to pass the LCWRA assessment.
There are two ways of passing the test
1 - you can score 15 or more points in the assessment
2 - You can be treated as satisfying the assessment without having to show that you score enough points.
In order to qualify for the LCWRA Group you will need to;
* meet one or more of the relevant descriptors, or
* meet one of the associated Exceptional Circumstances rules.
The LCWRA Group descriptors and the Exceptional Circumstances are listed in the Claiming ESA guides in the members area.

Dear Francesca, I can't add a word to Gary's knowledge regarding your benefit situation. I just want offer my thoughts of sympathy to you as a mum who has tried so hard and suffered so much through 38 years. And now you find yourself suffering such financial hardship too.
I hope you are in touch with your local Carers' Association already. Even if not I would still suggest getting in touch, as many offer support even though your son may not be returning to live with you. A friendly ear at the least in the coming weeks/months, that they may offer, could be of help to you. Best wishes, Denby
[husband has Asperger's and epilepsy so have just a 1% idea of how your life must have been]
