Received A letter from pip saying to redo Pip 1 fo was created by cat
Good afternoon.
I applied for pip via writing back in November 2020 in feb 2021 received the pip1 form in the post filled it out same day got it sent off, rang pip several weeks later asking if they had received the pip1 form, they said no. They said it'll be due to the pandemic but they'll send me the pip2 form out anyway. So i got that through few days later and sent that beginning of April. Yesterday i received a letter from pip saying they've got my pip 2 form but not my pip1 and i need to do it again.
My question is should i just pluck the courage up and do the pip1 over the phone, also as they are aware i asked for a pip application by post and sent me out the forms. Will they still if my application is successful pay me from the initial pip1 date ?
Thank you.

Hello cat,
Well done you for chasing them up! I can see no reason not to complete the PIP1 over the phone if you are able to do that (PIP1 forms are generally sent to people who are not confidence speaking to that DWP on the phone).
They SHOULD back date any successful claim until they received the first PIP1 form, but since they say that they did not receive this, it is possible that they will try to backdate it to when they sent you the PIP2 form. Hopefully you have some evidence of when you sent off the original PIP1 form, at least a diary note but better still a proof of postage – if so, keep it very safe!. I would however suggest that you put this to the back of your mind for now until you (hopefully) receive your award and you can see what they have done.

Hi Catherine
Thank you
I actually rang Pip explaining the situation and asked if i could do the pip1 over the phone, they said no because i already had the hard copy of the form with me. I clarified with them will my award if successful get backdated to the original pip 1 form, they said yes it will to the 4th Feb which i believe is when they sent out the initial pip1 form. I recorded the call and got the man's name i spoke with. Im not usually confident on the phone hence why i asked them to send the form in the post. I recorded this pip1 delivery and know they've got my pip2 which i photocopied in case i need to refer in future. Unfortunately i didn't record delivery the initial pip1 but they've clarified now ill get back dated so that's a good outcome. Thanks again.

Hi cat,
With the exception of not sending the first form off recorded delivery it sounds as if you have done everything to perfection! Well done
