PIP Mandatory Reconsideration - Nearly 5 wks wait was created by VIA
Dear fellow forum members and moderators,
Just a quick update on my PIP Mandatory Request.
I requested it nearly 5 weeks ago and I still have not heard back from them.
I know it has not been given to a decision maker yet because I called them.
I was told nearly 5 weeks ago that if I requested the PIP MR by tel, which I did (& and I did it in writing too) a decision maker would have to look at it within 5 weeks of the MR being registered over the phone. Yet the text I got on that day I requested the MR over the phone nearly 5 weeks ago says I should hear from them within 10 weeks.
Maybe I’ ll hear within days and let you know and if I do, that means maybe they look at decision again within 5 weeks of MR requested over the tel.
Or maybe I will hear from them in a few more weeks within 10 weeks of my MR request over the phone and if that is the case what I have been told on the phone that they have to look at the case again within 5 weeks of MR being requested over the tel was not true in my case at least. Time will tell.
Either way I will give you an update as I think it is important for us all to know about when a pip mr is being looked at.
Kind wishes

Hi Olympia,
My husbands took 6 weeks so hopefully you won't be waiting too much longer.
Interestingly I received a letter today dated 3rd May informing me that as my husband no longer received a qualifying benefit (pip daily living) I was no longer entitled to carers allowance. Luckily I had noticed that it had not been paid on Monday and contacted them to inform them that he was still getting std daily living, they were of course totally oblivious to the fact that their own department had this on file, it's such a pity they don't have a system that works properly then they would be able to cut the amount of calls they receive and actually be of some use to someone!

Dear fellow forum members and moderators,
Just a quick update.
I called them and said it is nearly 6 weeks since I last sent my PIP Mandatory Reconsideration (MR) request and that I was told on the phone by the adviser that if the MR was requested over the phone (which I did and by letter special delivery also) the adviser had to look at the case within 5 weeks of the MR request being registered by the phone adviser. This despite getting a text from them saying I had asked them to look at my PIP decision again and that they would contact me within 10 weeks.
The phone adviser said it was all ‘estimates’ though.
The adviser said that looking at my case it looked like my case was in the queue (which I understood to be along with the other cases).
I asked if we could see if a decision maker was looking at my case.
The adviser said it did not look like it because at times we could see the decision maker requesting further information (that got me worried a bit). So I asked what kind of information and from whom.
The reply was that on occasions the decision maker doing the MR will contact the original decision maker and asked them how they arrived at the original decision, what they used to arrive at the original decision.
In my case originally before my MR request I was told it was a paper assessment and there was no report as no report was requested from an HP which I assume means Health Practitioner or health professional. And I called them a few times and they all confirmed there was no report the decision was made on.And that the decision I received (the side explaining why they were giving me a rate being one page only) and explanations of reasons most of the time, vague, in one or two sentences only and contradicting all the medical information of various medical professionals and testimonies of people also). But I think I did a pretty good job at taking apart all the reasons of the decision maker which were selecting various descriptors for me, the majority of them all going against medical reports and people testimonies confirming ‘my’ descriptor.
Kind wishes
