PIP award was created by BiggMac1
Hi everyone I got my white envelope and thankfully I got enhanced care and standard mobility, this is down to following the members guides. I had a telephone assessment and My quandary is that I got 0 points for planning and following a journey, despite previously having 4. I suffer from bipolar disorder, mostly low moods and don't go out much. Should I ask for mandatory reconsideration or should I leave well enough alone? I know I am entitled to points for this.

Hello BigMac,

Thank you for your kind words about our Guides. We think they are great, but it is always good to hear that they are truly useful to people trying to wade through the benefits maze.

Unfortunately, it is impossible for us to give advice on what you should do about your mobility award. By requesting an MR you do run a very small risk that when they reassess your award you could lose points, but I should say that this is very rare, and you could appeal the decision. It is a tough one, and only you can decide if you are up for the fight, and all that that potentially involves, to get what you believe is right. Sorry about that.

Hi BigMac, if you do go for an MR you can always state that you are not disputing the points awarded for the Daily Living, only the mobility. While it is true that B&W cannot tell you what to do, my personal take [I'm not a mod] is that DWP always play the game of handing out a bit, but not everything, in the hope that claimants will very naturally be risk averse, and so they [DWP] will get away without paying out the max. So it's up to you whether you think that's right or not, and how much you want to take the --- on to get what you know you should.
best wishes, Denby
