I've just checked my award letter for PIP which is for MH issues Agoraphobia, Social Anxiety, Self Harm, BPD.... My letter states I was awarded 10 points for planning and following journeys and awarded standard rate from April 2017 until October 2022.
I contacted the DWP this morning and they told me my original PIP claim is from 2014 and I was most recently reviewed in 2017. There was a note on the system from LEAP team stating they had looked into my claim around mid 2019 regarding MH/RJ changes but found no reason to change anything. The advisor told me that the LEAP team based there decision off my 2014 assessment not my most recent... My most recent review in 2017 has information from the HCP which would most likely change my points from 10 to 12 as it stated multiple times I could only go somewhere familiar with my Grandfather who is my primary carer... The advisor from the DWP stated she could not see any reason why I couldn't challenge the decision from the LEAP team and ask them to base there findings on my most recent review.. I did receive a text message around 2 hours after the DWP phone stating I'd ask for them to look at my claim again there is no way this would be a MR is it? And it's just confirming I've asked the LEAP team to look into it? What are the chances of anything changing and would I maybe need to provide some more evidence why I think I should be on the 12 points for planning and following journeys?

Hi Housebound,
If the DWP have already made a decision about your LEAP review then they should have written to you giving you the decision and informing you of your right to challenge it. Normally there would then be a time limit on asking for a mandatory reconsideration.
The difficulty with telephone conversations is always that you don't know what the DWP staff member has actually written down about what was said and what action was agreed.
So, it is always a good idea when anything has been discussed by telephone to write and reiterate what you understood was said and agreed.
In this case, it sounds like what you were asking for is for the DWP to carry out a LEAP review taking into account all the information they have on file about you, including your 2017 review.
It would be worth stating that you have not received any communication about LEAP, if that is the case.
The MH ruling took effect from 28 November 2016. So, if you are able to supply any evidence that your condition was the same at that date as it was when you had your 2017 review that would be helpful. But if you don't have such evidence to hand, don't delay writing, just tell them you will forward any further evidence when you have it.
Any additional evidence that you have regarding your eligibility for points for planning and following journeys would be helpful.
We can't really speculate as to what the chances are of anything changing. But thousands of people have received an award under LEAP and, so far, the few people we have heard from who were unsuccessful at MR stage has all been given an award of arrears once they lodged an appeal and before a tribunal hearing took place.
In the end, if all else fails, a tribunal will apply the law and if you meet the criteria you will get any arrears you are entitled to.

Just can't understand why the LEAP team didn't use my most recent review for the MH/RJ ruling. The HCP in that report even said himself that I cannot follow the route of a familiar journey
without another person yet I was only awarded 10 points for mobility. As mentioned regarding the telephone call I doubt I could have been put in for an actual MR of my whole PIP award as it's over 3/4 years since that review happened. DWP advisor told me a letter was sent out in 2019 regarding the LEAP review decision haven't received it... I will admit going off the 2014 assessment I shouldn't be allowed 12 points in mobility but going off the 2017 one 100% I should. But maybe the DWP will use the "The law was taken into consideration when making your 2017 award". But then the DWP decision maker hasn't read the medical report stating cannot take familiar journeys without assistance...
Should I contact the DWP and just confirm what the notes of the previous advisor say?

Contacted the DWP this morning who advised that a reconsideration has been registered for the LEAP team to look into my claim once again. Received the HCP report from Jan 2018 and for planning and following journeys justification part he has wrote...
"Goes out for short walks always accompanied by family member, avoids going out when extremely stressed and anxious"
