Replying to PIP assessment review letter was created by hjbradshaw
Hi! I received my PIP renewal assessment form from 8th May and it says it must be returned by 8th August. I haven’t returned it yet but have already had another letter saying they have not received my form yet, but saying the date again. Should I be worried? Will they penalise me if I take yet another month? I am really busy at work at the moment snd have been very stressed-I Will fill in and send back before then, but is there a penalty if you don’t fill in the form and send extra information before then?

Hello Heather and welcome to the forum.
In case you did not know what your real/full name might be showing. If you would like to change this there are instructions here.
My full name is showing, how can I stop it.
If the two letters are consistent about the date being the 8th August then there is nothing to be concerned about. You do need to get the form back to them by then, unless you have an exceptionally good reason not to, e.g. hospitalisation. If you get the form back to them in time, any new award will be back dated to either when the old one expires or when the new decision is made, which ever is earliest. If you don’t get it back in time you run the risk of there being a period when your current award has expired and the new one has not started. Once you have submitted your completed form you can always add additional evidence, ideally in time for the assessor to see it prior to assessment.
I hope this answers your question – if not, please do come back to us.

Hi Heather
As Catherine has said if both dates are the 8th August you have nothing to worry about in that regard. Please note however that the 8th August date is the latest date the DWP should actually receive the form and not the latest date you must post it! It sounds as if the letter you received was simply a routine reminder that you need to return the form by a particular date rather than having to return it earlier. I know yours is for a PIP review but when I first applied for PIP ( in non-covid times) I received 2 reminders to return the form one of which actually crossed with me posting the form to them! It is possible then that you may even get another reminder but as long as they receive your form by 8th August at the latest there's unlikely to be a problem.
Good luck with your PIP review!
Kind regards
Mr B

Hi Heather,
Exactly the same happened to me: a letter telling me to get the form back to them by XXXX and a couple of weeks later a letter informing me that I'd not sent the form back.
I just shrugged it off and saw it as the DWP chucking unnecessary money about and sent it off when it was ready.
I must admit now, though: it could have been viewed as sounding a little bit threatening but I don't think that was the case.
Regards,
Phrank.

Hi phrank,
Its there way of making you rush, and you making a right b***s up of the form, so they can award you zero points or very few.

Hi Mr,
Well I can't argue with that, my very first reaction was to send it back in haste until I saw through them which took less then a minute.
At least I did take my time and only sent it when I was happy with it and thought it was the best I could do.
Still waiting, though.

Phrank.
