Can anyone help me? was created by Mollymoo99
I am hoping someone can help me, phoned DWP as I was told I had til the 5th July to get my form back, they said they automatically sent it back on the 17th June (things from previous claims) things they got wrong? They said they sent stuff to assessors on the 17th June without my form, even though I had to July to complete it, what is going on? Why would they do that without a form? She also said I have been “selected” within the leap review, I don’t know what this means either. Any help would be grateful.

Hi Loubylou
You can read an exclamation for the Leap Review here
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/news/4364-12-0...any-more-missing-out
It means they are looking at your past claim to decide whether they owe you some money.
I don't know why they didn't give you a chance to send in your new form - but that's why they're looking at the past.
I can't tell you whether or not your review will have a positive outcome - but some members have found they suddenly get a large back payment in their back account. (Others get a letter saying there are no changes).
If you want to no more you will have to contact them or wait to see what happens about your award.

Thanks BIS, whilst I am grateful for them looking into that, I am more upset about them making a decision in the absence of my form, I have called them several times just to check I had a 3 month extension, and every time was told yes, I had to wait this amount of time to get all the evidence, certain letters I had, I had to send away to excuse me from jury duty and they don’t send the originals back (silly me I should have photocopied them) they totally ballsed it up last time and worried this will be the same. Plus now if they do award me it won’t be backdated to the 28/04/21 which is when my payment stopped as did my SDP been living off of £232 per fortnight since. Can’t cope .

Hi BIS,
I found the original tear off slip from the how your disability affects you form, it states please return your form by the 5th April 2021, I had then received a letter two weeks later (this was back in March) stating again, please return your form by ...... but there was no date printed on the letter. On receiving this I had called them to ask why no date was on the letter, I was informed that due to the pandemic, everyone was getting a 3 month extension to return their form, obviously the sooner the better. If the original form was return by 5th April 2021, a 3 month extension would be 5th of July 2021, am I missing something? As I said on my previous post I contacted them several times to treble check this was the case (as I was struggling to fill it in) to be told yes absolutely, on one of those calls on checking, I had asked the the advisor regarding the leap review and he claimed he knew nothing of what I was talking about, this was on the 1st of June. Next call to PIP on 22nd June informed my case was sent for assessment in absence of my form and I was being selected for LEAP review, yes I already wrote all of this, my question is... because I had previously asked about LEAP, have they just sent my whole case to that “section” not realising I have an ongoing application for PIP? I have sent the forms, all of the evidence, a letter describing that call and also screenshot and printed all the times and dates I had called them, to check about the 3 month extension. Have I got my calendar wrong, or is there something else going on? Any help would be appreciated.
Kind regards,
Loubylou

Hi Loubylou
By the sounds of it you could be having a LEAP review ongoing as well as a paperbased review for your current claim.
My understanding from the forum is that the 3 month extension is no longer being offered.
I think you may need to contact DWP again to see what is going on, before you do, make a list of questions you may want to ask such as :
1) what is happening with your LEAP enquiry?
2) what is happening with you review?

Thanks Gary for your invaluable advice.
I plucked up the courage to phone the DWP and I would like to share my experience.
Spoke to a really nice call handler.
My case had been submitted to assessment on the 17/06/21 even though I had til 5th of July to send in my form.
My form is now being treated as “ further evidence” and not a new claim. Which I am grateful of.
The call handler asked me about my appeal “ I went to appeal as I missed out on one point for higher daily living” but I had been awarded standard after mr which was uneccesesary as it turned out to be a clerical error. That was last year. The call handler, without me asking, went through to the appeal team. They said they are looking at everything.
My point is for forum members, if you have ever been awarded by tribunal, submit this evidence with your claim wether it be a new or existing, as it seems to hold some weight, i’m sure another forum member said the same.
All I was told is that my case is at assessment stage, I asked if she could give me any kind of timescale, she said no but it is being looked at.
I asked again about the leap review and again she said I have been selected (I have never had a letter) but that could also take months.
Anyone who is scared to phone, just call them, I was lucky to have a nice call handler, but the ease it put my brain at and not stalking the postman is immeasurable.
Good luck everyone going through this inhumane system.
