Hello
Just wondering if anyone can shed a little light?
My husband was awarded Pip in August 2017 standard care Enhanced Mobility awarded for 2 years. He had a review in July 2018 which resulted in 4 & 6 points so no benefit. Submitted MR, then submitted tribunal papers.
Awarded 8 points for Care and 10 for Mobility so standard for both in August 2019. Since 2018 his various conditions have gotten worse and had 2 surgeries and lots of changes to medications, so we thought we needed to request a review and tell dwp what has changed. The forms we were sent asked him to tell them what had changed since August 2017. We done this and submitted forms 24 April he rang about a month ago and forms were with assessment. My question is it normal for them to ask what has changed since he was first awarded as we thought it would be from when he had his first review ie July 2018 then it took 13 months to get benefits reinstated.
The guides have been so helpful during all of this so thank you for all the resources and help.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hello Lynno,
I have come across them taking it back to the first application, the only logic I can find is that changes can be small but cumulative. As far as I know there are no formal guidelines on this, let alone rules.
In your husband’s case I can only see that this is potentially useful since it was decided in 2017 that he should be awarded standard care and enhanced mobility. If you can demonstrate that his condition has deteriorated since then it can only help his case.
(Just a word of warning. Earlier this year I was assisting someone who had had surgery for their condition and the assessor assumed that since they had had surgery everything was now okay. You might want to make it clear that the problems your husband is describing is his condition after recovering from surgery.)
Wishing him the right outcome,
Catherine

Hello Catharine
Many thanks for your reply, good to know about others being asked the same, I was wondering if it was to do eith them checking he was on right levels. Good advice, and reminder about surgeries, we do have letters saying that the surgery has made no difference in one instance and in the other the arthritis has spread to other areas. With additional issues and awaiting further MRI for the lower spine. So hopefully they have all they need to make the assessment.
Just wish they would get on with it..
thanks again
I’ll let you know how we get on
