New Diagnosis was created by CD0912
Hello
I sent my pup form off around 13 weeks ago or so and still waiting for an assessment. Since sending the form back I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia as well. Should I send the medical info to pip or should I just mention it on assessment day? I obviously didn't include fibro on my original application so just thinking they might not assess me on this...
On another note, some good news.... I was awarded lcwrag on Wednesday due to reading this site so that's one weight off my mind

Hi CD0912
Many congratulations on the award and well done.
You can send the medical info to PIP, don't send the original, make sure you send it by recorded delivery and it has your name and National insurance number on each page of the report.
If you have a look at our PIP guide at the link below you will see that there are 9 pages which include advice on telephone assessments. Yes, a lot of the questions are those that would have been asked if you had a face to face assessment.

- Write yourself a bullet point list of any particular points you want to get over, such as your new diagnosis so you have it by you during the assessment, tick them as you cover them during the assessment.
- have paper and pens to hand to make any notes such as the assessors name, date, time
- make sure you are seated in a comfortable chair, you are going to be there a while and at table to make notes
- if you can't hear or understand what is being asked then ask them to repeat the question
- don't forget to have a glass of water if needed so you don't get a dry throat and lose your voice!
Don't forget to contact DWP 48 hours after the assessment and ask for a copy of the assessors report called PA4.

Hi. Just to state. You now have a diagnosis. If you were having ‘symptoms’ prior to 2021 make sure you state that. PIP is awarded on functionality, but a ‘3 month’ rule applies; ie. you must have been having symptoms for 3 months prior to application.
I have Fibro and it took several years before I was diagnosed. It backs up what you say. Also mention it is a medical condition which is recognised by the NHS and DWP (the assessor may not know this). Take care
