Hi, can you advise us a urinal bottle classed as an aid or is it just the commode that is classed as the aid.

Kind regards

Hi Souter

It's impossible to say sometimes what is categorically an aid and what isn't, but I would count it as one.

Hi, the point about a urinal bottle is that it is used because of difficulty getting to or using the toilet. So I would suggest you need to explain what those issues are in words of one syllable, so it is hard for an assessor to ignore or pretend they do not understand.
Best wishes

Hi, am I correct in thinking that actually getting to the toilet is not included in this activity it is actually using the toilet they are interested in . Just to ensure the correct focus to score points. If this is not accurate please correct me.

best wishes

To elaborate, one might use a bottle because of mobility problems OR because of significant urgency / frequency which is a toiletting problem. Or both. Hence need to write very simply and definitely about it in answers to all the relevant questions.
Hope that helps,
Denby

Hi,

There was a curious bit of case law where the judge decided that in a particular case the bottle did not count as an aid since it was being used to help prevent infection and was therefore considered to be therapeutic treatment since it was not being used to compensate for an 'impaired function', be it physical or mental. A reasonable extrapolation would be that if it is being used to compensated for an impaired function, then it is an aid.
