PIP Evidence - Conflicting - Beware Surveys

I have managed to find some consultant letters for evidence, however there are issues. Some say they spoke to my daughter "and she says."etc..... When in fact she is unable to communicate on the phone and they actually spoke to me. Q do I use this and state this fact on the copy of the letter.

Also I have one letter that would list most info I need HOWEVER, A summary of the visit - went to clinic they saw us for about 20 mins if that, before clinic daughter was given a questionnaire which we were told and if my memory serves me correctly it was written on the questionnaire that it was voluntary and for student research. We both went through it to help the "students" but we did not complete it we made that clear when we handed over. I believe only half completed if that, as we didn't understand the questions and she was in no state to be able to finish it. Here comes the naughty bit on their behalf, when I received the letter I am wanting to use as evidence it has a paragraph headed psychometric measures.......this survey was a deceitful way of getting us to fill this in as if it had been labelled as such I would have refused point blank. The problem is this info is right in the middle of the letter in question and it is not going to be a true representation even by the fact that it was not completed. Can anyone advise and is anyone able to translate the following:-
Symptoms score of 21, would yield pain corrected score of 17. Score suggests patient experiencing clinically significant symptoms of low mood falling within moderate to severe range.

Sickness impact profile - Overall self reported disability rating 57.1%, although this score masks elevations within the categories of 'alertness'100%, mobility 80% and communication 83.3%

Pain and anxiety symptoms Raw score 39 falls in 30th percentile when compared with a sample of individual with chronic pain presenting for treatment.. Scored 90th percentile rank on the physiological responses subscale and measure.

My daughter is bed bound due to pain, unable to communicate properly due to pain, brain fog, exhaustion, weakness, multiple diseases and complications linked to Gastro, CRPS, Fibromyalgia, ME, Allergies etc etc as you can all probably understand this is all extremely life limiting unable to get around bedroom let alone anything else.

Also with evidence ref descriptors does it just need to be showing difficulties or proof they have certain conditions?

Hi Jane

I'm sorry, but it's outside the scope of the forum to comment on medical reports and their potential meaning.

Regarding whether you should include certain evidence. Obviously, it's up to claimants and their families or carers to decide what to include, but we would always say don't include anything that could be harmful to a claim.

To give you an example, I once helped someone complete their PIP and a medical expert wrote " Mr. A can't work at the present time." The reality is that Mr A could not work then, but more importantly, will never be able to work. I was concerned that submitting the letter would lead to them thinking that his condition was going to improve when it wasn't. So we made the decision not to include the letter even though it had some other stuff on it that might have helped the claim. Was I right? I don't know. Many of these types of decisions about what to include and what to leave out have to be made on your personal knowledge of the claimant and your intuition. Unfortunately, there are no certainties in these things.

Dear Jane, IMHO [not a mod] probably the best evidence you could provide would be a diary that you write as mother [and I suspect chief carer?]. Use a template from here or do your own table with columns for date and comment etc. Doing this you can cover the PIP descriptors in a way no doctor ever will.
best wishes and power to you, your poorly daughter is blessed to have you. Don't forget to take care of yourself too.[Get a Carers' Assessment if you haven't already]
