Hi Hazel, you're welcome. Don't forget that 48 hours after the call [sooner if texted to say DWP have the report] you can call to ask for it. Or get someone to on your behalf, quote your name, NI no etc and explain your issue with phoning often. Going through it and if necessary writing in ASAP to 'The Decision Maker' may save you an MR or appeal.
Best,
Denby

so I contacted the assesment people.. and desipte have "I want my assesment to be recorded" been added as a seperate letter EVERY TIME I've sent in extra evidence (4 times in the last 6 months) plus having the CAB write it on the original form, guess what? Next weeks assesemnt is not being recorded and apparently there is nothing they can do about this as the assessor is working from home and doesn't have the equipment or something
Appearently I could opt to cancel next weeks and go on a list for a recorded one, but this could take an additional 4 months...

on the brighter side a GP from my surgery called me as they have been sent a form to fill out for my PIP. And as they obviously know less than the CMHT she went through each bit with me to make sure that her information was upto date. So that's a possitive I guess as when they filled out my thing for WCA it was full of slight inaccuracies due to them just not knowing all my symptoms.

double edged sword I guess... I have gained myself a phone with a handfree/loud speaker though so I can record the assesment myself at least

Hi Hazel

You can legally record a telephone call without informing the other party providing the recording is being made for your personal use. In fact, do not tell the assessor that they are being recorded as they will likely terminate the assessment.

If you are using a smartphone then there are apps that will do this for you.

If you are using a landline and can put the call on speakerphone then you can record it using either a smartphone or some other recording device,

If it's a landline but you cannot put it on speakerphone then you will need a special microphone that attaches to the earpiece.

We do have information on recording in our guides, page 93 www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip#claims

So, after a sleepless night, a lot of stress, and some upset stomachness I sat with the phone and my notes for 2 hours before the appointment time. The fun of anxiety, I get so scared of being late that I have to be early, and I get so scared that if I do ANYTHING before an appointment I will somehow miss the appointment

Anyway, it got to 9am (the appointment time) and the phone didn't ring. By quarter past I was fighting not to have a panic attack, despite having taken diazepan to try to control the panic. At 20 past the phone rang, it was a woman from the assesment centre calling to cancel the appointment...

New appointment is on the 8th at 9am

this may have resulted in about 20 mins of crying, change isn't something I cope with well. Feel a bit lost now, might go to bed

I really wanted it to be over

Hi Hazel

I am so sorry that you went through all that to have your appointment cancelled. I hope that you will be able to have some rest and deal with the week ahead before you have to face it all again. There's no doubt about it, it is very tough to deal with when that happens.

so I had the assesment this morning. The woman seemed nice at first, but she constantly cut me off in the middle of sentances that REALLY annoyed me. In total I was on the phone for 1 hour 32 minuets

she never asked about any of the mobility descriptors, but on a few of the other questions she go obsessed with why my GP hasn't contacted the DVLA and put any limitations on my licence... which as I don't drive and my car isn't even road legal right now seems irrelivent to me, but whatever... I literally drive as rarely as physically possible, so rarely that when my car failed it's MOT last year I haven't bothered doing anything about it because I don't neeed it... the few times I do go out I borrow my housemates car (literally for a college night class that I attended once a week laast year) and I haven't driven at all now since June. So, ye, not sure why she was obsessing on that point...

Didn't get to mention a few things because she cut me off in the middle of sentences, which each time resulted in my brain stumbling a bit and meant none of my answers were as complete as I would have wanted.... But ye... it is what it is I guess, just have to wait and see
