Won Pip Appeal was created by Carly
Hi all.
My DLA (high mobility/mid care)was stopped when it transferred to PIP December 2019.
Apparently I failed the "medical"
I asked for a MR consideration and without any further evidence was offered just Standard mobility at £23.70 per week. I was too exhausted to challenge it further as my mental health had also suffered in the fight to even apply for PIP.
However, a year later I sought help through my local Aid and was told I still had time to challenge!
I did. My appeal was held and I received the positive letter 3 days later. Enhanced Mobility and Standard Daily living backdated to 2019. I received that payment within 14 days.
My SDP part of ESA was also stopped when I lost the eligibility qualifications in 2019.
It is over 8 weeks since I was told my backpayments for this was "being checked" I get the same answer every time I ring (and we all know that wait time to ring DWP is always over an hour!) and yet my PIP backdated money was very quick.
Surely my appeal win is all that is required to kick start the owed back payments?
Anyone else had this length of time to wait?
Thank you..and don't give up!

Congratulations on your determination Carolla!
It can take a little while to get SDP approved since there are a number of conditions which have to apply in order to qualify for it, not just getting PIP and ESA. But having said that, do keep chasing them. When I ring the DWP, if I am not with a client, I busy myself doing something else and just have the DWP music playing in the background, so that I am not sitting there just listening. (If I am with a client then we either get on with something else or play guessing games as to how long it will take them to answer.)

Congratulations on winning your appeal!
Regarding SDP, when I spoke to them recently, the gentleman I spoke to informed me that they were snowed under and had half a million cases to deal with and something that would normally take 5 days to sort out and send a BACS payment is now taking between 5-8 weeks.
Don’t worry, the delays are frustrating but given the numbers of cases he quoted it’s understandable, the positive thing to remember is that if you still meet the eligibility criteria, then you shall receive a back payment.
I hope this helps and you receive an update soon.
Kindest regards, loubylou.

It may be that the DWP is waiting for an IS10 to be completed confirming that your living circumstances have not changed since you were last paid the SDP. You should be able to complete the form over the phone, the following has the questions you will need to answer.
