PIP LETTER was created by Holloway
Hi, I have just received this morning a letter from PIP informing me that my claim will end in February, 2022. They are asking me to call them to make a new claim?? Is this usual, as I thought they send you out a renewal letter. I have severe COPD so certainly will not get any better, if anything I have gotten worse over the past 18th months or since, since I started my original claim. Advise please, before I call them. Thank you

Hi Holloway,
As far as I can gather, some people have a renewal letter and some have what seems to be a new claim. I'm not sure why. (Others may know!)
I think the important thing is to fill out the form and supply any medical reports etc that you wish to go with this ASAP. It is taking several months for claims to be dealt with at present. However, a recent change in the law meant that you can choose the sort of assessment. I think pg 88 of the PIP guides refers to this.
Also, you may wish to argue that since you do fall into the category of people that have life long conditions, then there may be no need to have any assessment where you attend, and there should only be a paper review.
I hope this helps.
Good luck.

was you current clae won at appeal/tribunal?
I am 90% sure that I ead somewhere that a tribunal won claim won't renew but you have to start a new claim

Hi Holloway, my understanding is that if your award is for 2 years or less you have to have a renewal rather than a review, or if your previous award was given at a tribunal this would also lead to a renewal at the end of the award. Mods please correct this if I am wrong.
All good wishes

Hi Holloway,
Was your current claim dealt with by Tribunal? Unfair as it is, tribunal cases have an end date.
If this is not the case, I would call them and ask why it is being treated as a new claim rather than a review ( if you feel able to do so).
As LL26 advises, it’s in your best interest to call them, they will then post your form out for you to complete, I would do this ASAP, as claims are taking many months to process, this prevents a gap in payments from when your award ends. For example, I received the same letter in January and my award wasn’t sorted until the 06/08, 7 months.
Hopefully you have a copy of your original application, this will help you complete your form and also the great guides on here.
Good luck and best wishes.

Hi holloway,
yes that is correct, as your award was won at appeal then when that award ends you will have to re apply as if it is a new claim. (mine was the same).
Good luck
