PIP award review question was created by Eddy
Hi all..Just received a review pack despite being told in writing my award was extended to next year 2022. It states on the "what not to send " section you cannot send a supporting letter from your GP ..YET SAYS IN THE WHAT TO SEND LIST...Reports from your GP or consultant are required ..I have always sent in supporting letter from GP ..Can anyone point me in the right direction on this..As it is very confusing for me (severe PTSD patient ). What exactly should I do ..Panicking already....Eddy

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Mark,
Your full name seems to be showing you may wish to change this, here is the link;
www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/component/users/profile
Don't worry about the confusing information from DWP! If you have a report from GP, consultant, physio etc then these will no doubt support your case and hence should be sent in. I think the confusion stems from DWP wanting you to send your claim in on time and therefore not to wait for a doctor's report if it hasn't arrived. Unfortunately the word on the form is most unclear!
If you haven't got reports now it might be an idea to see if your doctors would provide this. You shoukd bd able to get a copy of your GP notes for free if you request this. Sending in medical reports usually do help.
However, if you don't have these, then send the form. You can always send in a statement by a friend or close relative who can explain the difficulties you have with the descriptor activities.
Make sure you send the form off in good time and keep a copy including copies of any reports etc.
Good luck!

Dear Eddy, Please ignore the 'don't send ' bit completely. Some of us think they put it there to disadvantage you, because it is very rare for DWP /assessment contractors to contact your GP, as they would have to pay them.
And just to add a little bit to LL26's helpful reply, if you think/know you will get your hands on a medical letter or report of any kind, but not in time for the deadline, just put a note in the form that you may/will be sending in further evidence later.
Be sure to keep copies of everything, put your name and NI No on all extra sheets such as Drs letters, and send everything recorded or tracked. Keep the tracking receipt. If you do send in extra stuff after the form, a good idea if you can to call after the post office says it has been delivered, to check that it has been joined up to your form.
Hope this is not adding to your confusion,
Denby

Hi Eddy,
I second what LL26 and denby said.
Me... I sent everything I had, I didn’t care what the form said! Appointment letters, them cancelling on me etc.
I had CBT but online due to Covid, the phone assessor spoke in great detail about that, if I hadn’t sent the appointment letter, they wouldn’t have discussed it.
I also sent appointment letters for X-rays on my knees and a ct scan on my liver, both were cancelled due to Covid, again if I never mentioned it, how are they to know and the assessor asked me in great detail of that also.
Send them everything!
Kindest regards, loubylou.
