My pip awards was for 5 years ending in March 2022. I have a long extension but the case manager recently told me it’s better to sent it now as they assessors have a backlog and if the assessor does not get to my form by March 2022 then my payments will be stopped. The lady also let me know the call was being recorded to motivate me t send it on time.
However today another case manager told me that’s not the case and if they have a backlog provided I send the form by the deadline, regadlesss if whether I had several extensions and even if my award expires in March 2022 I would still get payments until they complete the assessment because it’s their fault and not mine.
I am not aware of any law on this matter, but in practice I have found that if you get your paper work submitted on time, but there is a delay due to them, they will extend it so that you do not have a period without money. Sometimes people have to ask for this extension and sometimes it happens automatically, but I have never known it be refused.
