Medical evidence and impact of covid was created by Johnniepk
My recent claim for a friends AA was successful but future dated.
The explanation was that the medical evidence was dated from her hospital admission in June
There is no medical evidence prior to that as covid meant she did not access any medical services ftom March 2020 until an ambulance was called in June 2021.
However prior to her aneurysm she was basically suffering with old age issues rather than a diagnosis.
It appears she failed to take any medication , nor order any from March 2020 which may have led to the serious event.
Is it worth a MR as i know i cant get any " evidence"?

Hi Johnniepk

We can't tell you what to do here, but without any 'evidence' you are going to struggle and you have to consider whether you think it is worth your time.

Could the fact that she didn't order or take any medication from that date evidence confusion, anxiety, or forgetfulness. These are all conditions that can "grow on" you over a period of time but for many must have been accelerated by the lockdowns and fear generated by the pandemic

Excellent point.
The maths points to a saving of about £2500 to the dwp if they delay paying until Dec.
An amount that allows her an 81 year old with quite limited mobility and other needs to buy in some additional support.
I am flabbergasted by the meanness of the decision.

Hi Jonniepk,
It is possible to make an appeal relating solely to the length of an award. Whilst thisnormalky comprises the ongoing length if and award or end date. I can't see this equally apply to the start date.
If you can show that your friend required the requisite amount of care throughout the day, as a result of health condition then you may be able to appeal. Evidence can include a statement from yourself or other carer or from a further friend. It doesn't have to be medical evidence. You say your friend was just old, but lots of elderly conditions do have names eg arthritis, dementia, and may well be quantifiable by your friend's GP. You can get GP's notes or a medical report which may actually provide the "evidence" that DWP are looking for.
Have a think!
