With CB ESA can you have any disability premium?

Hello

I have been on ESA and PIP (enhanced living) since 2017.

I assume I have always been contribution based ESA as I have worked most of my life, and worked until 2018- June 2019 (permitted work)

Due to disability I have been unable to work since then.

I have never received any disability premiums and I am struggling to find much information about it all whether I am entitled or have been previously. I've not received any before.

I had to move on to UC in late 2019 due to divorce and moving area, being a single mum etc.

But I am still being paid separately for ESA, which is deduced in my UC statement. I am receiving 'Limited capability for work and work-related activity'.

Thanks for any advice you can give, I know I've had so much help lately and I keep asking questions (sorry if it's a question that has been answered before, I have spent most of the day searching)

Many thanks

Hi L

From your post I assume that you were placed on the support group of CB ESA, if you were placed in the WRA group then your CB ESA would have stopped after 1 year.

There are no disability premiums paid with CB ESA, depending on your circumstances you may have been entitled to also claim IR ESA, if you were in receipt of IR ESA then you may have been eligible to claim disability premiums depending on your circumstances.

Now that you are in receipt of UC there are no disability premiums paid with UC claims, from your post you inform that you have been placed in the LCWRA group. CB ESA is deducted £ for £ from UC entitlement.

Once you are on UC you cannot go back onto legacy means tested benefits such as IR ESA, housing benefit.

There is no need to apologise for asking questions, that is what we are here for, you learn through asking.

If you have any further questions please come back to the forum.
