PIP moility/ mental health was created by lianna
Hi, I was moved from dla to pip and lost my mobility component. I was also forced to attend a face to face interview which distressed me so much I self harmed before and after. I asked for an mr but the decision was upheld and I am too mentally fragile to attend a tribunal. (the only one I have attended I won mainly because when the assessors walked in I was in the middle of a panic attack!) I have severe depression and anxiety, Attention Deficit Disorder which is fairly unresponsive to meds, and complex PTSD. I also have never learned to drive and cannot ride a bike as I also have dispraxia. To motivate myself to leave the house I have to book a cab as I know if I don't take the journey I will lose money! I also have sciatica due to pelvic tilt. Now I have had my review form, how can I reverse their original decision? I am also terrified they will try to make me have another face to face or telephone interview, as this happened with esa. I dodged a bullet as I've had a small legacy that takes me over the threshold, but they ignored my gps letter saying that a telephone or face to face interview will cause me overwhelming psychological distress.

Hi Lianna
I'm sorry that you are having to cope with so much. One thing that has changed with the assessment for PIP is that you can ask for a paper-based assessment if they refuse you can put in an appeal and it will be looked at again if they refuse you can put in a second appeal. Now that doesn't mean you will get a paper-based assessment, but the fact is that you can appeal without them immediately trying to force you to a face to face assessment. It's a different person looking at the paperwork each time. If you have a doctor who is willing to give you a new letter confirming that you suffer from Overwhelming Psychological Distress (and it needs to use those exact words) get one. If you can't get a new letter, use the previous one. Make sure in your evidence you don't just put the letter in, you highlight the letter in your request for a paper-based interview and you tell them what happened when you were forced into the face to face.
And then make sure that you read our up to date guide and try to follow the suggestions for completing the form.
If you have any other questions, come back and ask.

thanks. Basically due to depression, anxiety and ptsd I rarely leave the house. To encourage myself to leave the house I book and pre pay for a cab so I know that if I don't leave the house I will lose money. I said that on my previous form and was told that pip was not for taxi fares and I would have to budget for that myself. However I'm sure I read later on that one reason for awarding pip on mental health grounds was because of this.

Hi Lianna
They are supposed to look at all modes of transport to assess what someone without the same difficulties would do. From what you've said you are limited in your choice and this should be taken into account. I think the problem is that you tried to say truthfully how you manage and that was then misinterpreted - which is unfortunately common.
