The person who I care for and am helping to apply for PIP had problems at school when he was younger. He had a troubled birth which left him needing speech therapy and he had problems with learning and concentrating when at school. This was 23 years ago now but he still has the same troubles now. This can be a problem for him when it comes to budgeting and he has a problem with communication.
His old school reports explains he gets easily confused, poor concentration etc. Even though these reports are over 23 years old (suprised he still has them) could they be included in his submission if he mentions on his pip2 form that he had learning problems as a child as proof? Would they still be relevent to his claim?
Yes, they could potentially be very helpful. There is a principle that to be awarded PIP points difficulties experienced must be due to an underlying condition. So for example, if your friend is unable to budget because he suffers from dyscalculia he would be entitled to points. If however he experienced the same problems but because he hated maths and never attended the lessons he would not be entitled to them.
However - because of the above, do read them first, just to check what they say!
