Pip question was created by Natalie
So I just rang pip for an update and apparently it is with a case manager ( decision maker) does that mean they have done a paper based review or does it mean they haven’t decided if it needs to go to the assessment people?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Natalie
I may have answered this question earlier, but by the sounds of it they may have done a paper assessment.
Did you ask the the person you spoke to for a copy of the assessors report? if it is a paper assessment then it is called a PA3.

Hey
The woman I spoke to said it is with the case manager ( decision maker ) and they will decide in the next couple of weeks if I need an assessment or not think it’s a bit odd saying the cm/dm is looking at it from what I understand is that normally it gets sent straight to the assessment people as soon as you send it back.
Maybe I’m getting my hopes up I dont know but what a weird way to do it.
Must add when I filled in the form and sent it back with 6 months worth of medical evidence after requesting it from the doctors added photos aswell and also did as you suggested on here using a highlighter matching what I was saying with the evidence I had then at the end I requested a paper assessment.
I have mental health problems and the photos I sent showed the extent of my disability and how it affects me every day plus 19 visits to a&e in 8 months. Iv never sent photos before but this time round I wanted to give them physical evidence of my disability so they couldn’t do what they have done twice before and basically ignore it.
People shouldn’t have to go to these lengths but I’m past the point of being embarrassed and ashamed and if I have to send photos and other stuff that leaves me quite sad about it to cut out the ball crap from atos and cut the waiting time down so I can actually not stress about it then this is what I shall be doing from now on.

Hi Natalie
It sounds as if you sent a comprehensive amount of information and I hope you soon have a positive outcome.

Hi Natalie, I think it is looked at by a case manager first to decide if you need an assessment and sometimes the case manager makes a decision straight away without any input from the assessment provider. This happened to me at my last pip review. The downside of this is that there is no medical report prepared by the case manager so I was unable to know how they reached their decision, which would have made it difficult if I was unhappy with the award. In my case I was awarded the same level of pip again for 4 years. I hope that helps.
All good wishes
