Hi all and apologies for my last reply...........trying to do the smileys seemed to have wiped out my message all together.
So, I'm due to receive my SP end of next year and have regularly sent of for forecasts each year. For the years 2014-2015 I was told that my NI qualifying years totalled 42yrs {I have been on benefits since late 80s, Invalidity Benefit, Incapacity Benefit then ESA, none of which were 'means tested' ]. Come 2023 when my SP date arrives, I would have accrued 49 qualifying years, having commenced work in 1974. Whilst DWP forecasts have for the last couple of years informed me that I would be getting FULL amount of new SP, having read some of the posts above, I'm now doubting that because of the amount of time I've been on benefits?!
I shall, therefore, be writing to them shortly and requesting that they send me a complete breakdown of said forecast, as has been pointed out.
Could it be that, because you need 35yrs NI payments to qualify for new SP, that they also take into account the extra credits, which by next year will total 14yrs over the required 35yrs, thus giving me the full amount? [I'm not sure how the 'reduced' rate works due to 'credits' and not 'payments'.
Hope this makes sense and someone can comment on above.
Kind regards

Hi petrocelli,
I know that you get NI Credits when on certain means tested benefits which will go towards your State Pension amount.
Getting a full forecast where everything is clearly explained will no doubt help.
I'm not a pension expert, but maybe someone else on the forum will know more.
