PIP Mandatory reconsideration was created by Tak2
Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum this will be my first post. I could really appreciate some advise and help with my pip mandatory reconsideration that I put in after being scored 0 for both components. I sent in some medical evidence by recorded delivery however, that ended up getting lost by pip. The excuse they gave is that there was no evidence to back your claim. I phoned to request a mandatory reconsideration then called back to ask for more time in sending in evidence again. I have problem with my spine and damage nerve and depression. I need to write a letter to explaining why I should be entitled to both components but I don’t know where to start. I have issue with my memory and although I’ve read the section about how to answer the questions it becomes so overwhelming to me. Can someone explain simply to me I need to understand how to write the letter. I don’t have much time need to get it in.
Many thanks

Hi Tak2,
Welcome to B&W.
Have you got a copy of the assessment report PA4? You can ring up for this. I suspect you won't agree with much of the report. Go through it as best you can and try and group the criticisms. Put them into bullet points.
You might notice these examples
-assessor was rude and never let me answer properly
- cut and paste was used throughout
- assessor has made sweeping assumptions that are incorrect
Provide an example in the report which illustrates the criticism you are making eg
The assessor assumes I can drive and therefore I can prepare food and dress myself. I do NOT drive as I have insufficient grip....etc
To write your letter, clearly mark this Mandatory Reconsideration with your NI Number and name.
Maybe have a opening paragraph about your disabilities, what happened when you were diagnosed and a general overview of the effects.
Then you can include the criticism of the report. Finally go through each descriptor activity and explain what points you should get. If you have another look at the guides this will help.
Remember that you need to be able to do each activity
Safely
In a reasonable time
Repeatedly as required across the day
To an acceptable standard, this can include effect of pain.
The highest points value should be awarded when 2 or more activities in a section apply equally.
Finally you will score points if you can't do the activity for the majority of days, having one or two better days per week won't preclude points.
Hopefully this will make writing your letter easier.
Good luck.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi Tak2, once you have got PA4 [that is if you had a phone assessment] and got your letter off, may I suggest you try complaining to your MP?
You sent your medical evidence recorded delivery and DWP then lost it, and claimed you didn't qualify for PIP because there was no evidence?! That is not satisfactory and your MP's office should try to help. Some won't, some will.
Best wishes,
Denby

Hi Tak2
If you sent your papers by recorded delivery then check on line date it was received by DWP and who signed for it, make a copy or take a screen shot and then put in a formal complaint.
If you did not send any additional supporting documents by record delivery then it will be your word against theirs and unfortunately you probably will not win.
Always send any documents by recorded delivery to the DWP for peace of mind, it will not stop post going missing but at least you can prove it was sent.
