Unable to request PIP Review Form

Unable to request PIP Review Form was created by Kieran
I have a 5 year tribunal claim (Oct 2017 - Oct 2022) due to end in October this year. I recently required the PIP2 Review forms and was informed they are automatically sent (I know they are at the 3 month mark, but I wanted them earlier so I had plenty of time).

The women then did some more ‘checks’, well said ‘hang on a minute’, and then came back and said there is an ongoing award issued as of April 2022 and went on to explain the backlog, and just said at some unspecified point in the future I will receive the pip paperwork

Does this sound correct? It sounds like they have created a duplicate award as they can’t change the dates on a tribunal award?

I did see the article a couple months back saying they where automatically extending awards that were coming up to review, but I didn’t think ‘ongoing’ was an option? I know nothing about the DWP, and I’m sure some people here know a tad more, but does that imply it’s a lower priority? As well all know anything flagged as ‘ongoing’ can take years to get a review?

Surely if there is no actual flag saying there’s an overdue review, then it could be a long time before I hear anything?

Any thoughts / advice welcome.

Hi Kieran

As your PIP claim was awarded by a tribunal you need to contact DWP for a renewal.

We have heard on the forum from many members who won their appeal at a Tribunal whose claim had stopped as they were relying on DWP to send out a reminder to make a new claim which never happened.

I would chase now for a renewal form.

I can’t that’s the issue - I requested for one from the DWP and they said they can’t make one as there is an indefinite award with a start date of April 2022 on my file, and therefore it will never reach 6 months before.

I think you may have misread my post.

I contacted the DWP and told them I want the renewal forms, they said is it a change of circumstances, and I said no, and told the claim is ending in a few months and I want to sort out the relevant paperwork.

They then stated they can not send out a renewal pack as my award is more than 6 months from its end date, and they went on to say there is an award from April 2022 with no end date.

So I’m not sure what I can do, if the DWP is point blank refusing to send out the renewal forms as according to them my claim is no where near it’s end date?

Even though as per my original post October 2022 was the date set by the tribunal.

Hi Keiran

I understand what you are saying. You haven't said - but have you reached state pension age? If the answer is yes, then you along with others who have reached that age have been moved onto an ongoing award with no end date. If the answer is no but you still have a letter attached to your file that says you were awarded ongoing for the next ten years, it could be that they have decided that your case warrants this - even though you have not had a review. I have heard of two or three others that this has happened to, but generally they are sent a letter saying so. I don't think there is any point in you keep trying to get a review form, because it sounds as if you are not going to have one, but you should ring and ask for a copy of that letter - if they are awkward, put in a subject access request for the notes they are holding and it will be sent to you. Hopefully the information you have been given is correct and you can stop worrying about being reviewed.

No, I’m not state pension age.

It is possible like you said it didn’t warrant a review for whatever reason, and either they forgot to send the award notice or it was lost. I will ask an agent on Monday to reconfirm the award and make sure to request a copy is sent out so I then have proof if there’s any issues in the future.

If this is the case, would they hold any notes to explain why they came to that decision? Or will it just be the award notice they’d have.
