Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Specialalone
It is not your specific medical condition that is important per se - it is the impact of the condition on your daily living and/or mobility. So only you know the severity of your condition and the difficulties that arise from it and the effect it has on your life. You know whether you suffer from any incontinence, or whether you need any assistance from an aid, or a person. There are lots of examples in the guide and you should from there be able to decide which is most relevant to you and it highlights the six questions you need to answer and where you might score.

Hi I mentioned that I used incontinence pads but because they were not on my medical records they said this did not count. I said I bought them at the shop but they did not accept this even though I offered to send receipts from Boots.

Hi Specialone
It makes me cross that they wouldn't accept your word for it. I would tell them that you are saving the NHS money by purchasing them yourself and you should not be penalised for that fact. Don't hold back on describing why you would use them, how often etc and what happens if they are not available. Treat the reader as if they do not have any idea about the condition (which of course they don't in your case!)

Hi Specialalone
Now that you've finally been diagnosed with coeliac disease, after quite a painful time I imagine – and I take it in light of that news you're being fiercely strict about no gluten whatsoever in your diet...
...the good news is that with almost immediate effect, you should have no need for incontinence pads at all, as it was only the presence of gluten in your tummy, irritating your system and causing you such unpleasant symptoms.
Make sure you're getting your coeliac prescription if the CCG in your area has approved this. We are clinging on in Kent, but still get GF bread, rolls, and flour on prescription here, thankfully.
You might like to take a look at the Coeliac Society's website if you haven't already done so. There's a wealth of useful information on there.
Also, depending on where you live (I think they do 3 or 4 regional shows a year), the big 'Allergy and Free From Show' is coming up soon (it's free!) and you can get advice on all sorts of things and taste-test new products coming to market
Best of luck,
Raph

Did you point out the problems you would be in if you did not make it to the toilet?
Why would you pay more for a fixed price prescription, if they are cheap to source yourself? + you prefer buying online because of the anonymously of it & discreet packaging... Amazon robots dont know one product to the next!
My partner has a gluten intolerance & it's eye-watering the expense of staples. Was in France recently & prices are much more similar to non gluten. She is still keeping a food diary & not prescribed anything yet. PIP is about financial support to make your day to day more normal & to help with the increase in any meds being purchased or special dietary needs.
