Sorry who/what is the IAS,
i opted out 2014 ish a woman Doctor from my practice phoned me about 2014 ish and said, she thought it was a good thing to opt out,
( as i emailed and phoned explaining under no circumstances did i want my PERSON medical record going anywhere)
she mentioned her husband not a doctor did not think it was important, but noticed many savvy people in my area had opted out and were concerned like me and her, she was very against Data sharing.
Anyway many years later i took this up with my TRUSTED and switched on long time support person , re did the opt apply to Psychiatrists and dentists etc .
.Slippery Dave Cameron and Osbourne were behind this . Data Communications sharing BS

Hi Pixiegirl,
I'm sorry what it is NOT clear is whether you had originally opted out.
I opted out 2013/2014 ish, as i mentioned elsewhere does this apply to dentists and psychiatrists who have records of your Medication .

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

"Sorry who/what is the IAS"
Independant Assessment Services is one of the two companies providing PIP assessment Services for the DWP, the other is Capita. IAS used to be the much loved ATOS.

Hi, still an ongoing saga with the managers of my GP surgery. Been told its nothing to do with data sharing opt out. If you give consent on your PIP form for your Dr to be contacted by DWP or their assessors, then this over rides any previous opt out or consent/non consent. It is taken as you consenting to information being provided to DWP or their assessors by what ever way the Doctors surgery wants. It doesn't have to be done by the named Doctor you have put on the form or the surgery themselves.
Many surgeries, mine included, have signed up to Medi2data, which seems to be an American company that doesn't charge GP's for the service, which makes you wonder why? Obviously not from the goodness of their hearts, but from the mass information they can gain from people's medical records....... and Dr surgeries are profiting from this as they get paid by DWP to provide the information!
The report produced was rubbish and harmful. The business manager after a lot of tooing and froing said they would get it redone........ got it last week....... couldn't make it up....... It was worse than the 1st with all my disabling conditions missing off it!!
I won't be giving consent on future PIP forms for my GP to be contacted and with no support from them now...... just adding more stress to the process......I haven't got the strength to take this review to tribunal, having now received the MR decision, with the DWP decision showing no evidence of them having even been bothered to read any of my evidence and just quoting their version of the PIP regulations to justify not awarding more points and not relating it to my evidence at all.
So please be aware and worth checking with your GP surgery(before giving consent on your PIP form) if they too are outsourcing the filling in of information for PIP forms
It is heartbreaking reading everyone else's struggles with DWP on here, the Government could save so much more money in the long run if they didn't make people's conditions worse by their actions. take care.
