PIP Renewal form sent 18 weeks ago.. No contact from DWP was created by Rossi1999
Hi. I sent my PIP Renewal Form back 18 weeks ago. I have heard nothing about whether I am to have an interview, or otherwise. The renewal date has already been extended once, in 2022, to December 2023. Is this because of a delay with the DWP or the 3rd Party doing the reviews, or even something positive? I did put on that my condition had worsened due to a new problem. I am reluctant to phone as I've read about people just getting cut off after waiting and waiting..Any ideas or advice would be welcome.

Hi Rossi222
Eighteen weeks is a long time, but I'm afraid there are many people who have been waiting longer. We have had some members waiting more than eighteen months. Now, I hope that won't happen to you, but the only way to know the progress of your claim is to ring the DWP and find out. There's little point in speculating over why you haven't heard - because there is no easy answer. The DWP has a backlog of cases, but it still remains there are regional differences and that will be affected by the availability of assessors.
If you do phone, it can sometimes take up to an hour to get through, and yes, sometimes you do get cut off, but you have little choice but to persevere if you want a definitive answer from the DWP.

Hi. I phoned about the delay. They confirmed that they have received my form. Nothing has been actioned on it yet. I explained that it had already been extended by 12 months to the end on 2023. All I was told was, that if it still hadn't been looked at near that time, they would extend it again. I have extended the lease on my motablity car as this was due for change in June. It is so hard to deal with mentally when you are just waiting months for a letter to drop through the letter box, without a clue how long I have to wait for a decision on what is going to happen.
It's now been nearly 6 months.
