Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems
PIP ended was created by Chris
Hi,
I've recieved my letter this morning after my PIP assessment, and they've ended it. Nothing has changed in my circumstances at all, since I was awarded it at the tribunal in 2022. The only difference is that I am now on Propranlol medication. There's no address where to appeal or any online information on my letter though. If I can't find it online, can someone point me in the right direction please ? (Can this week get any worse?).

Hi Chris
I'm sorry that you find yourself in this position. You can put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration, and you should have been informed of that in the decision letter. You have four weeks from the date on the decision letter to get it in. If you haven't already, you should get ahold of the assessor's report - PA4. You can ring the DWP and ask for a copy. This will give more details of how they reached their decision. It normally takes 7 - 10 days to arrive so you should do this ASAP if you don't already have a copy.
You can also ring the DWP and ask for a call back from a case manager, asking them to explain where they think your health has improved. (You don't have to do this).
Have a look at our Guide to PIP appeals - which will tell you what you need to know about putting in for an MR. (scroll down the page to see it) benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip.

Hi BIS, Thank you for your reply. I managed to find an online form mentioned, so I filled that in, and sent in evidence by post, and also asked why they decided to stop it? I did get a copy of the form, and once again, it contained points that upset me - 2 opf them specifically saying YOU SAID YOU HAD DIFFICULTY PLANNING AND FOLLOWING JOURNEYS (which I have done all my life, and won't go anywhere unless I'm accompanied by someone familiar) and the assessor wrote I DECIDED YOU CAN PLAN AND FOLLOW THE ROUTE OF A JOURNEY UNAIDED. You also said you have difficulty moving around - I DECIDED YOU CAN STAND AND MOVE MORE THAN 200 METRES. I mean seriously when it's my word agains't theres, then what hope does anyone have with these assessors just deciding what they want, to stop allowing people the help they need? Something needs to be done, because half the assessors are absolutely clueless. I'm just playing the waiting game again now and waiting for them to reject me again before escalating to a tribunal. Honest, thank god for people on this site who actually read, listen, understand, and more importantly help, because without you all, I think millions of us would be screwed.

My husband waited 13 months for he’s assessment by phone, he needs to have a reminder to take he’s tablets everyday and he scored 0 for this, also getting on to mobility she asked how far he could walk in minutes (never heard of that one) he said he could only walk no more then 20 meters and when we read it she had put 50 but not 200 meters so where did the minutes come into it.
He has sent and asked them to look at it again.

Hi Susan, Looking at what you've written, according to the descriptors, I think he's done right asking for it to be looked at again, as you should've scored points for both of them categories. I honestly don't think some of the assessors are qualified enough to be making these life changing decisions. It's time taking and a lot of hard work but escalating to the tribunal should you have too, it makes a hige difference in my eyes. I won mine back in 2022 with a tribunal, but then had another phone assessment in May 2023, and my PIP has been stopped, even though absolutely nothing has changed in my circumstances, other than to be put on extra medication to help me cope better with my issues. Good luck with it though, and hopefully your husband will get what points he deserves from someone better qualified to understand the issues we experience.
