Claiming ESA now being reviewed by UC was created by Sue
I have been claiming contribution based ESA (support group) for 10yrs without any issues. Due to Covid, my husband who is self employed, needed to claim UC. Obviously it had to be a joint claim, but he was receiving the money. Now the minimum income floor has been applied he hasn't received any UC for a few months now, but the claim still remains open. Since then, I've received a notification that my ESA is due for review and I've been sent a UC50 to complete. I've already questioned this, as I was not being paid through UC. I'm really anxious now as I can't afford to lose this, and I feel as though I'm being targeted so DWP can stop paying me. Sorry this is my first post. I've always followed the site, and after 10yrs, I could really do with some help please . Thank you .

Hi Sue
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
You are not being targeted, ESA is an indefinite award with scheduled reassessment based on the Prognosis Date completed by the assessor in their report, so your existing ESA award continues in payment until a new Decision is made.
UC50 form is the same as the ESA50 form apart from the name. If you kept a copy of your previous claim form, you can use this as a template, making any changes depending if your health condition(s) have stayed the same, deteriorated or improved.
Use our guide to help you complete the form, last updated Nov 22; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/esa
Your CB ESA would be deducted £ for £ from your UC claim, Government changed the criteria of MIF at the beginning of the year, which has affected a lot of self employed claimants.

Hi Gary
Thank you for your reply. I will certainly look at the links you have provided, thank you. I hope I kept a copy of the ESA50! I'm sure I did. I'll be turning the house upside down now lol. Thank you again.
