A first for any time I've ever ring any government DWP department... was created by Sammianne
Rang PIP enquiry line this morning in an unusually determined frame of mind to get through.
Started ringing at 8.58am. Each time it connected and I heard the sorry we are closed I instantly hung up and immediately using redial rang straight back, as I knew I would get through as close to the line opening as was possible.
So first time ever it's happened, (as usually up to an hour waiting in a call queue when I've called previously), but on the 4th instant do not pass go redial I got through, answered all initial automated questions including do you want to speak to us option.
It connected me. It only gave 3 rings and to my shock an advisor answered. Just like that.
So yes it was pure chance I must have been right there as one of the first few of the day to get through, but would suggest if calling on a morning, don't wait till 9am to start ringing. Start at 8.58 before lines open and instantly hang up soon as hear start of sorry we are closed and keep using redial till phone line opens at 9.
May not get through straight away like I did, but would think it will get you near the front of the queue it seems and save sitting there in a call queue for as long.

Just to add to that on firsts.
As I said I rang to request assesment report yesterday morning.
I got the report through the post this morning just 24hrs after request.
It was posted 2nd class business.
Question here is that all letters/post has the return address as Belfast on the back of the envelope, but I now assume that letters etc are issued by computer/printed via local offices and posted out from there, or some other process like it, as 2nd class business via Belfast in 24 seems impossible.
Also thinking it's the Belfast return address on back of envelopes so that any mail undelivered goes to Belfast for them to action and it's that office that deals with all returned or undelivered mail.
Am probably overthinking their process post wise, but I am curious.
