In the process of appealing PIP award was created by Julie
I made an appeal regarding the PIP mobility award for my son in May who is autistic. I've been waiting for the hearing to be booked and today I had a missed call from the DWP. I checked the process of the appeal after I realised I'd missed a call from them and it states that they have responded. My question is would they call me regarding the date, or to let me know that I won't be getting the hearing at all.
Many thanks for any replies or advice.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Julie
Welcome to the forum.
You might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is; www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/faq/forum
DWP do not call claimants in regards to appeal dates, this is carried out by HMCTS.
DWP will usually contact claimants if they have reviewed the case and have revised their decision, if they have revised their decision, you do not need to accept the offer if it falls below what you expect, you can try and argue for a higher award pointing out your supporting documents.
If you do contact DWP, have your supporting documents to hand just in case they make a revised offer, but you do not have to accept it.
Quite often claimants panic and accept what is being offered, we have heard on the forum where members have argued against the offer and been awarded the enhanced component.

Sorry I should have mentioned that this appeal is regarding a tribunal as I was refused my first mandatory appeal. I don't know if this will make any difference to the advice I'm seeking. Would it be safe to say that they have changed their decision in my favour? I'm appealing about the mobility points my son received. He's already been awarded the higher rate for care and lower rate for mobility. I don't agree with the lower rate mobility part. I hope that's clearer than my previous question.
