Pip assessment form was created by Ger
Hello,
Hoping for some advice please. I successfully claimed pip 2 years ago at standard rate for both.
My condition has worsened and I have contacted pip to have a new review as looking at descriptors I feel the higher rate would be met.
Reading through my paperwork from last time and I wish I had appealed as on a few of the descriptors where I feel I should’ve got 4s the assessor has mentioned my job role excessively. She didn’t 100 % know exactly what I am currently doing in my role (mostly struggling and failing at it tbh). Should I have appealed this as she has basically assumed and not rewarded me points because of this. Just so I know to repeatedly mention my job when I fill this new form in.
Thank you

Hi Geraldine
I would not worry about your previous claim as you are too late to do anything about it, just concentrate on your change of circumstances. We always advise claimants to request a copy of the assessors report called a PA4 48 hours after the assessment to check what assessors have written in their 'opinion'.
As you have reported a Change of Circumstances you will have been sent a PIP2 to complete this is the same form as you received when you originally made your claim for PIP.
You need to complete the form as is it is a new claim based on your conditions and limitations as they are now, include evidence as you can even if it was submitted with your previous form or with the appeal.
There have been some changes to the PIP criteria since you were last assessed so please make use of the latest version of our PIP Claim guide

If you have any specific questions then please come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.

Can I add notes on at the end to state why my job role should not be considered against scoring what I can and can’t do at home?
Also they wrote that they cannot see muscle wastage in my previous pa4 but you can’t judge muscle wastage from looking at someone 2 meters on the other side of the room.

Hi Ger
I'm afraid you can't tell them to ignore your job role because they won't. The daily living component considers your needs regardless of where you are, and the same for mobility. If you are struggling at work, are your employers aware of it? If they are or you have anyone who can write a letter in support, that would be useful. I understand if that's not possible. Do you have anyone at home who can write a letter supporting your difficulties at home and how they have deteriorated? If you do and they would be willing to write what they have observed, that would be good to include in your evidence.
It is common for assessors to comment like they did with you - saying they didn't observe muscle wastage. It is annoying when they do things like that, but an assessor is giving 'their opinion', which you don't have to agree with. As you know, this is a potential problem - think about the evidence you have to support your muscle wastage and what impact that has on your daily living and mobility under the specific PIP criteria.
