PIP too high score was created by Blue123
We successfully applied for PIP for our son who has suffered a brain injury. The online guide was very helpful and our son was awarded the enhanced rates for daily living and mobility from the evidence we provided so an assessment wasn't needed. All good so far!
In the mobility questions we ticked the box saying can move more than 50m hut no more than 200m. On checking his scoring he has been awarded 10 points for not being able to move more than 50m. I don't know if it's mistake or if the assessor thought it was the correct scoring based on the evidence and the narrative describing how he is in pain all of the time but still tries to walk whilst enduring the pain? He also received 12 points for the question re planning a journey so even if his walking score was reduced he would still have enough points for the enhanced rate. I don't know whether to "poke the bear' and contact them or not? I suppose I worry that they might want him to attend for an assessment which would be traumatic for him but don't want to get into trouble? Would appreciate any advice, thank you

PIP Assessors are supposed to be the experts in disability assessment, who are we to argue with their conclusions?

More seriously, this is an issue of degree, the assessor has rated your son's limitations more severely than you have, it is not uncommon for this to happen, although more usually in the opposite direction.

It is the award that is important not how it was achieved, especially as that award would be the same if the marking was different so I see no reason to challenge it.
