Hi there
Just a quick one, when submitting evidence should I highlight points in the evidence? E.g. a report, highlighting with a pen the relevant points that fit the descriptors?

Hi S Knows.
Be careful using a highlighter pen. Your form will be scanned in, and if it's highlighted, there's a risk it may not be able to be read properly. I would underline something rather than highlight it.
When I help people complete forms, I prefer to highlight their evidence within the answers. eg. "I am unable to prepare a meal, because of my severe arthritis (see attached letter, 3/10/ 2021 , from Dr X, Consultant Rheumatologist), the lack of mobility in my hands and the high levels of pain. Although I take pain medication (see medication list) and have worked with my physiotherapist (see attached report, 16/08/22), I can't cut fresh food because of my poor grip and the risk of cutting myself or dropping things.....etc etc.
Okay, that's a bit wordy, but I do it this way because the person reading it already knows how the claimant's evidence relates to the specific PIP questions. The danger of leaving assessors to read a pile of letters at the end means they often don't make the connection between the form and the evidence submitted. (that's if they even read the evidence).
You don't have to do it in the way I do. You can underline the parts you want them to take note of.

That's really helpful, thank you. Didn't realise the highlighter would mess up scans.
