Hi Ana77
I think you are going to need some personal assistance with this. Do you rent from a Social Landlord? They often have Financial Inclusion or Tenancy Support officers.
If not I would try phoning the Citizens Advice Help to Claim phone number and explain about being in ICU during migration.
Call our Help to Claim phone number
You can contact an adviser through our free Help to Claim phone service. Advisers are available 8am to 6pm, Monday to Friday:
England: 0800 144 8 444
Scotland: 0800 023 2581
Wales: 08000 241 220
Here is a recommendation of the service from our Forum member VIA-

Thank you
yes I rent through a social landlord. I was under the impression that I would have protection for at least a year. is this not the case? I have not been giving a statement or anything in paper I was just told by the woman at the job centre my allowance would be approx 398 for a month , before I was getting 281 and some pennies. can I ask why you think I need special help for this? I am sure there are lots of people in y situation have they been getting protection or have they have their benefits cut in half? I dunno if I am worrying over nothing, as the woman at the job centre would not tell me much she just asked e to ring a number that ( that was an old number which ni longer worked) so I have been worrying for days.

Hi Ana77
Transitional Protection erodes over time and there isn't a cut off of a year. The 1 year rule only applies to Tax Credit claimants with savings over £16,000.
So it is a complex issue which is why I have previously given you the phone numbers to ask for assistance.
