When newspapers and sites like ITV say:
... the highest level of UC - for the most disabled or ill who have been judged unable to work - will go down.
At the moment you get more than £400 extra if you are judged too ill to work; that gap will be reduced.
What does this mean?
I get ESA support group. I never applied for PIP cos it was just too much stress. So I only get ESA and HB currently. I understand soon I will be migrated to UC. Does this mean I will face cuts? Or am I misunderstanding?
Already I am in trouble.. half of my ESA goes on my rent shortfall.

Hi Winlars
As you are in the support group, when you apply for UC you should get the LCWRA element added to your UC claim without having to have an assessment, you will also get the housing element as your housing benefit will cease but you should get a two week HB run on.
I cannot comment on what newspaper say as I do not have the facts, these will be reported in the B&W news letter as soon as we know.

The shocking thing is the media are reporting massive increases in people claiming PIP without mentioning that a major reason was the migration from DLA to PIP. It wasn't all down to covid...

You don't expect the press to actually report the truth, do you? This Government has done what all administrations for the past 20 years have done which is to ramp up the anti-disabled rhetoric in order to be able to get away with punishing disabled people for the problems in the economy that have been caused by others. Think bankers, fraudulent contracts, etc during the Covid years, there are many others but with the memory of a goldfish, I can't bring them to mind.
Can you imagine the outcry if the government were blaming people of colour or people of the Jewish faith or even homosexuals for the state the economy is in? They would, quite rightly, be called to account for what are, in effect, hate crimes. No, it's because disabled people are an easy target and the press aren't interested in defending us this time round, that they're getting away with it. So what if a few more disabled people commit suicide? It'll just bring the benefits' bill down and for the gov, that's got to be a good thing, right?
