UC & Unearned Income Deductions was created by Tuppence
Good morning all
Can someone kindly clarify this for me?
I recently claimed and received my first modest occupational pension payment but my latest UC statement shows the gross amount has been deducted as other income, not the net payment I actually received.
Is this correct?
Thanks in advance

Hi Tuppence
Your deductions are correct as per UC ADM quoted below-
Retirement pension income
H5004 Retirement pension income includes RP, SP, occupational and personal pensions and certain other pension related income as explained at ADM H5005 et seq1
. The meaning of “retirement pension income” has the same meaning as it does in SPC legislation but this does not mean that it is treated the same way when calculating UC. It also includes increases in RP for a person’s partner. All retirement pension income should be taken fully into account for UC; there are no comparable deductions for Income Tax and NI in UC.
1 UC Regs, reg 67; SPC Act 02, s 16(1) & 16(1)(za)
