Hello, just wanted to ask. There’s a lot of talk today that the Lcwra will be scrapped and people on UC who are looking for work will get additional help but those who cannot work will get the Lcwra extra payment of £400 scrapped.
My question is, people who are moving over from Legacy benefits if this was the case would they loose over £400 for not looking for work as they are unfit and unwell, and not entitled to Lcwra or would they still be able to get transitional protection and be protected from loosing out? That is so much to loose when disability is not by choice but essential items rent and food are still needed. Please could someone explain and make this clearer as I’m trembling thinking that £400 less as already the rents are higher than the benefits, the bills, food etc is unmanageable, how would we survive with less?
Me personally, I think it may be best waiting until the budget on the 26th March. A lot of speculating can mean unneccessary worrying. I'm sure after the budget, Steve will publish a newsletter explaining all the changes. I would also recommend watching the Martin Lewis money show on ITV at 8pm - usually a Tuesday but odd times a Thursday, as I imagine he will be receiving a lot of complaints, and concerns that he will try help address for people.
Chris.
