Proposed reforms to PIP - pensioners was created by JJ
Hi team As my partner's PIP was successfully reviewed before he reached state pension age a few years ago & he has a long term award, I am wondering how the reforms will effect anyone in this situation. Surely if someone in this situation has an award jeopardised, then could they not just claim Attendance Allowance instead ? I cannot see that the Government are going to be making changes to AA. ? Thank you.

Hi JJ
There are a lot of things that are still unclear, and we cannot say at this time what will happen to pensioners receiving PIP. As it stands, they are subject to a light touch review every 10 years. They did not make any comments on Attendance Allowance.

I am also querying what will happen to my 70yr old wife who is on high rate mobility and standard daily living component (10pts with a highest single score of 3pts) she is not due a review until Dec. 2029 but will the changes to standard rate just affect people of working age? Some people say yes others no, does anyone know exactly how this will affect pensioners please. Thank you..

Hi Paul
As BIS stated above we are still light on the details , a lot of scare stories are out there in the domain, as yet we have not yet been told the details, I believe a green paper is due out soon which may give a few more details.
At present we can only guess what may happen, which is not good for those suffering from mental health issues.

I have written to my MP (Tory) for an explanation from the government on this subject- how pensioners will be affected, light touch awards etc.
He has sent my enquiry to the the Ministers at the Dwp and will get back to me with the response.
So I will let the forum know when I hear back.
