Is working allowed while on UC LCWRA? was created by dannyufcfan
I was recently transferred from ESA support group to UC lCWRA. So, I’m somewhat unfamiliar of the rules. I know that in ESA support group very little, if any, work was allowed. So, I never did any. What I'm surprised to read is that on UC LCWRA you're apparently allowed to work as much as you want and then your earnings from UC would be tapered off in relation to what you earn. It seems to be the same system that regular UC uses. Can you please confirm that I have read this right? That you're allowed to work while receiving UC LCWRA. I just don't want the worry of trying it and then not been capable and having to claim all over again. If so, and I do decide to try some work, as a sort of test to my capabilities, do I let UC know via my journal? And how would I report my earnings? Would I have to do that every week in the journal? Is that how it would work? TIA

Hi dannyufcfan

When you were assessed at the WCA you made statements endorsing that you were not fit for work. If your health has changed and you can now work full time which as you say is allowed, you are obliged to inform the DWP. Otherwise you may become the subject of a CFIS ( DWP Fraud ) investigation. There is no such thing as Permitted Work with UC.

As David has said, there is no permitted work under LCWRA so not sure where you read this? The criteria for LCWRA is strict and definitely defines that you are not fit for work.

Hi,

what happens if we have been doing permitted work under ESA though, how is this treated if we are still doing it when migrated? I am being migrated from IR-ESA and HB (plus CB-ESA) & did my claim on 25 Feb, waiting for first payment.
I am doing 12 hours work (was permitted work). I told them about my earnings in my claim form.

Thanks for your help

As i'm interested in this question i am a little confused by the B and W replies. I found this on the internet: www.gov.uk/health-conditions-disability-...dit/after-assessment
It seems to say you can do ...'some' work even if you are placed in the UC-LCWRA group. Wether going over the work allowance limit triggers re-assessment, i do not know. It seems a bit contradictory but it does state you can.
Also to add, i do part time permitted work in the ESA-support group for 7 years. But i had to declare details when starting the placement. They just let it be.

Hi LittleC

You can use a Benefits calculator such as Entitledto.co.uk to preview how your work affects UC.
