Should I update my pip decision was created by lizzie23
Firstly may I thank you all for your help with our problems, you have been so kind and helpful.
Hopefully you can help me with a problem?
I was awarded a 10 review which is due in 2027. My health has deteriorated quite a lot since my last review and my heart condition is now considered as severe.
I was only awarded the minimum daily living allowance at the time and didn't want to question it as I was too ill. The assessor took no notice of my limitations and my top score was 3 points. Under the proposed new criteria, I could lose my benefit.
My question is this, do you think I should advise them now of the deterioration in my health or wait for the review in 2027.
I have been strongly advised to avoid stress so I am at odds as what to do for the best.
Your expertise would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Hi lizzie,

I think this is only a decision that you can make yourself based on your strength - but similar thing a few years happened to me, where I was awarded only a certain amount of points, then i got the standard rate, contested it, then lost my PIP, because my points went down, so I then contested it again, and was put back into standard with a backdated lump sum - but the several months after the assessment, I was forced to live without PIP. It can be a difficult decision to make, especially like you mentioned that you need to avoid stress. I think it's a case of "each to their own" - sorry I can't be of further help.

Good luck though, whatever you decide - Chris. :)

Thank you, your reply is exactly what I am afraid of. The stress of losing this benefit is immense as I only have my pension otherwise and the thought of these news rules are greatly worrying. I know I am not alone and I am very angry at this government for causing all disabled people this terrible problem.
Thank you for all your help it is appreciated. X

Hi lizzie,

I feel your pain - I really do. It's an awful situation, having experienced this myself. I think if you need the money that badly, then it may be beneficial for you to accept what you're currently getting, and do what I do - like maximise my finances as I say. Have a look on Money Saving Expert ( there's an app if you know how to download this on the play or apple store for your phone ) - and also Andy - Be clever with your cash. So, I use these sites to give myself a payrise sort of speak. Like my mobile phone for example - I own this, so I bought a SIM only deal at 65p per month with Lebara for 50gig data, unlimited mins and texts for 9 months, then £9.95 per month after - meaning that the whole years worth of your phone contract is paid for with under £40 for example, where as, you may pay £15 per month for a similar deal with another provider - totalling £180 for the year - but using the method I stated, it's only £40 per year, meaning a saving of approx £140 a year for example - I hope you understand this :) - but there's lots of different things you can do, like this to help give yourself a payrise sort of speak.

kind regards, Chris :)

Thanks for asking this. I am in a similar situation (sort of). It is so hard to know what to do. I have also received my UC migration letter so will deal with that first.
I hope things turn out OK for you. X
