PIP review- Would like to argue for higher reward and Engaging with other people was created by anxious
Hi, I have just received my Pip review form (ar1). The original pip reward was for 3 years and I'm in the last year of that now. When I originally received my award, it was a lower amount than I think I should have received. I think I should have scored full points for engaging with other people face to face but was only awarded 2 points. At the time I was just relieved to have been awarded PIP and was too scared to argue my case.
With my review coming up though I would like to argue that I believe I should of been given higher reward last time. I also read that there was a review of the engagement with other people face to face activity and I think it applies to me . I have only been able to engage with other people with a specific family member or my partner.
My question is, how do I go about raising these issues in my review form? I'm not sure where I would write them or the best way to go about it. Also in the guides it recommends adding extra sheets for your answers to the questions as the boxes are so small. Are we supposed to write in the original boxes still? Or just write "please refer to extra sheets"? Thanks in advance for your help

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Anxious
You don't have to write anything in the box—you can write "see extra sheet No.1," etc. Make sure each additional sheet has your name, national insurance, and page number and clearly states which question you are answering.
Regarding trying to argue what you think you should have scored last time - be careful how you do this. Keep it short because the assessor is interested in how you are now. So just say in a couple of sentences that the issues you have now were in place last time and you disagreed with how you were marked but were unable to put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration. Say if you have deteriorated from last time and hammer home how and why you struggle with these issues.
Make sure that you have looked at the Guide to PIP claims and Reviews for advice on answering the questions. There are lots of sample answers which can be adapted for your own circumstances.

Thanks for your advice, that's very helpful to know.
So I should only mention it briefly and hope they see enough in my current state to change the award.
On my other point about the recent change to the law where social support and prompting were recognised as awarding more points, I think this applies to me. I read the separate guide here and I'd like to bring it up in my review. Is this something I should single out and make a specific page for, or is it the case again of hoping the current case worker recognises it?
Thanks again for your help

Hi Anxious
I think you are referring to the 2016 court case www.gov.uk/government/publications/perso...aw-from-6-april-2016 - This was applied to PIP reviews from 2020 and so as yours took place after that -the changes should have applied at the time. You can add any comments you want and link them to any documentation - but unless I'm wrong and you're referring to something else, it isn't recent. Your actual argument is that you didn't get awarded what you were expecting last time, and you want to reiterate where you are now and the fact that these issues have been ongoing for x number of years, including when you were last assessed.
