ESA IB support group migration to UC was created by lacoste1985
🙏🏻URGENT ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE 🙏🏻
Hi everyone
Friend claims ESA IB support group plus SDP, she said this is £484 ish a fortnight
She also claims PIP (high rate care, no mobility) at £434.20 every 4 weeks)
She received a ESA to UC migration notice a couple of months ago and applied online for it before the deadline.
She works part time 10 hrs a week on £12/£13 an hour.
She was told UC would start from 1st April 2025 but I have a feeling this may be the start of her "assessment period" or 5 week wait.
Since shes responded to the migration notice, shes been sent what appears to be a UC50 huge booklet which I've said I believe shes been sent in error as surely thats the whole point of receiving a migration notice...that her LCWRA status will "migrate" over with her to UC. Shes also been asked to provide details of her healthcare professionals (again i dont believe this is right).
We've filled in a couple of benefits calculators and she's worried shes going to lose money and be worse off financially (i dont know how accurate these are though for migrated clients) and that her wages will be pretty much deducted off her.
Again i believe this is wrong as from what ive found online on the gov website, if you have LCWRA you automatically qualify for a work allowance of £673 before any deductions are made.
Is there someone that can help allay her worries and anxieties this evening please and confirm that its highly likely shes been sent this information in error.

Hi lacoste1985
The DWP has made a mistake and she should be moved automatically into the LCWRA group and not have to complete a UC50.
The only possible issue is that she was not granted Permitted Work by the ESA department. Was this the case ?

No she was definitely granted Permitted work from ESA. We think the issue has arisen because she answered "no" to the following question on the claim form:
"Do any of your conditions restrict your ability to look for work? " Yes/no
And she answered No because she is already working so interpreted the question in this way.
Now we are thinking this has triggered a reassessment of the WCA....? Has this happened to anyone else you've come across?;

Hi lacoste1985
She will have to phone the UC helpline and ask why she has been sent a UC50. She could also send an enquiry to the case manager via a Journal message choosing option A Payment as recipient.
