marked down on pip descriptors after review was created by Shyfords
hi to everybody
i just recieved my pip review decision after almost 12 months wait. the good news is my award has stayed same, enhanced living and enhanced mobility until 2028 which is a huge relief for me. But on my decision letter 2 of the daily living descripors have been changed. one of them from 8 points to 2 poinnts and .another from 4 points to 2 points. my total score is now 14 points made up from needs prompting 2+2+2+2+2+2+2 when it was before 22 points. i am very concerned by this becaus of this new proposed 4 point rule in your news.
have i been marked down on purpose because of this proposed rule ? will i get reassessed again in 2026?
there is no explanaion on the letter why my points have been reduced which is bad.
also I rang the pip helpline twice to ask for the report from assessor and was told each time that there is no assessor report on the system for me because it was decided on paper instead. i never had a face to face or telephone assessment.
should i appeal against them for reducing the points or just leave it? and if yes, how do i do it without a assessment report to argue against?
thank you for reading this and for any advice on this.

Hi Shyfords
I'm glad to hear that you have had a successful review. Unfortunately because you have had a paper-based decision there is no report. Since the pandemic, the DWP seem to have stopped doing them.
I honestly can't tell you what to do here. I understand why you're concerned, and I would be as well. It still is a proposal, and we don't know if it will definitely be implemented.
If you put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration they will look at your whole award again, and there is always a risk, albeit a small one, that they could downgrade it again. If they have lowered your marks, they are effectively saying that your health has improved, and I assume that it hasn't.
You could always try ringing the DWP and ask if you could speak to a case manager, and ask for an explanation why the points have changed. Without a report, you are entitled to know why and this isn't the same as putting in for a formal Mandatory Reconsideration.

hello BIS
thank you for your reply. Yes I also asked for the assessors report from my previous review aswell and they said that was done paper decision too, so you are right my friend.
there has been no change in my conditions since my last review and based on what you have said I dont think that i will ask for a mandatory recondsider in case they take away my daily living or even both. i dont trust them.
at least I have my award at present and I really hope that the proposed changes don't happen in 2026. we can only hope.
