Should I self- initiated PIP review or not was created by boliver
Hi there - re PIP review
Could anyone advise me please whether I should wait for my DWP initiated review,
or initiate the review myself,
based on a change of circumstance.
Back in June 2022
I was granted enhanced rate for Daily living and standard rate for mobility. This was granted
For a fixed term of 4 years 5 months.
It is due to expire November 2026.
I will probably not be sent DWP PIP review
form for another 8 months at least.
I was wondering if someone could kindly tell me the pros and cons of initiating a review myself,
especially as these new PPP changes to Daily living part are due to be introduced at the time of the expiry of my PIP.
My problem is that there has been very significant "change of circumstances"
Since I applied for PIP.
1/ Last 2 years now need twice daily June care visits / following care support plan.
2/now virtually bed bound,
Certainly house bound. I have only be out of my
supported living once in the last 2 half years.
3/ I cannot cook or prepare food or meals for myself. I originally scored 4 pts for the food preparation descriptor - I think that would be raised to 8 pts because I am no longer assisting
I am having it done entirely for me.
The mobility component was set at 8 pts - I think that would go up now to 12 points - scoring on both questions. That would go up to enhance rates.
I just don't know whether requesting a review
myself based on my worsening health circumstances would just give me a lot of extra grief and stress unnecessarily.
I have so many serious conditions - 12 separate conditions including worsening brain tumour Benign but still serious, chronic Lyme disease, Lyme arthritis and small vessel disease
Olliers bone disease etc.. etc..
I have never posted before - any advice on the pros and cons of initiating a review against just waiting for them to contact me to review would be very much appreciated.
Thanking you.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi boliver,
Welcome to the forum - I think that due to the excess worries that the chancellors statement has brought to those who claim PIP, that thousands of us will likely be thinking similar thoughts, and making sure we get the 4 points in 1 category for the daily living component by November 2026.
Because the mobility is staying the same, and only the daily living is changing - it might be best to wait until you're sent your forms and have to apply again - unless you feel that you have a chance of the mobility section changing for you, and you may be able to get the increased points to get enhanced. I would advise that you check the guides on the website first and see if it's of benefit for you to go for this - this is just my own opinion.
Good luck with whatever you decide however
Chris.
