No longer want PIP was created by Amy5769
Hello there,
I’ve been receiving PIP for the last year or so. Whilst I’m still not physically well my financial circumstances have changed so I feel I ought to give up PIP. I know PIP is not dependent on income or one’s finances.
My only concern is my son said that DWP might be suspicious as to why I’m giving it up, which I don’t understand why they would. Surely they will be glad. So now I’m nervous. I was just going to say I no longer require PIP as my finances have changed basically. But now I’m so worried. Anyone have any advice please 🙏🏼

Hi Amy5769,
Pip isn't means-tested so you can continue to receive this whatever your income or savings. I appreciate that there is a lot of media concern about too many benefits claimants, however please think carefully about giving up your benefit.
Whilst your financial circumstances seem better at present this could of course change for the worse again. And, depending on your age, you may not be able to receive the same amount of money if you reclaim at a later date.
Remember also, that if you have a carer and they claim carer's allowance their payments will also cease if you decide to cancel your PIP claim.
I'm not aware of any problems if you contact DWP and say you no longer wish to claim PIP. DWP might ask questions why but I doubt if they will follow anything up.
It is your decision as to what to do, but please think carefully before you do anything.
I hope this helps.
