I asked for a reassessment was created by Pam j
I am currently on enhanced daily living, and standard mobility.
I asked for a reassessment, as since my last award, I have have had veins surgery on both legs after clots and I have recently had lung cancer surgery, which has left me breathless when I walk.
I am obviously worried as I know they look at the whole thing again. Do they take into consideration your last award at all?
I did do the last pip form myself, but is it better to get citizens advice to help?
Thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Pam j
They don't always look at the whole thing - it depends on what you said (and a bit of luck) If you reported a change of circumstances and asked them to look at your mobility award, there's a chance that they would just look at that. However, if you just asked them to 'review' your case, they may send you a form and expect you to complete it all and make a judgment on everything. It's a hit-and-miss system.
You are the expert of your condition and we have very good advice on how to complete the form. Only you can decide whether you need help from the CAB. Just bear in mind they don't have much time and some members have complained that the CAB have not said what they would have said themselves.

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, they are sending a form. Will it be likely I will get a face to face assessment as well?
Thank you

Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, they have sent a form out for me to complete.
Last time they said they had enough written evidence to not need a face to face assessment. Would I need one this time? Should I remind them that last time they had enough evidence not too need one?

Thank you for your reply.
Unfortunately, they have sent the paperwork out for me to fill out.
Is it likely that I will have a face to face assessment?
Should I ask for a letter from my GP ?
Thank you

Hi Pam j
The fact that they decided last time that they had sufficient evidence to do a paper-based assessment does not guarantee that they will make the same decision this time, especially as you have alerted them to a change in your condition and the fact that you have had surgery. Many people are finding that after having had paper-based assessments, they are suddenly sent a telephone assessment. Frankly, it's potluck. I hope you do get a paper-based one, but I just wanted to warn you that you might not.
If they don't do a paper-based assessment, they will do a phone assessment, a video assessment or a face-to-face assessment. Telephone is the most likely - but let's hope it doesn't come to that.
If you have a supportive doctor who will write a good letter, it can be helpful to include one, but don't worry if you can't get one. And if you get a letter, but don't like what it says, then don't include it.
I know you said you completed the form yourself last time - which is great. Do have a look at the Guide to PIP Claims and Reviews so you have support to complete any of the questions. benefitsandwork.co.uk/guides-for-claimants/pip
